Month: September 2023

September 27th, 2023 – Moody’s

Tonight, we had the privilege of a virtual visit from Moody’s, during which they presented an overview of their services and provided a detailed walkthrough of an associate analyst’s typical day. This event offered valuable insights into career pathways, in-depth information about the recruitment process, and firsthand experiences from recent UCONN alumni. We also discussed the core principles of the business, including credit ratings and the rating process. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, allowing Finance Society members to gain a deeper understanding of the company’s mission and receive valuable interview tips.

September 20th, 2023 – Citigroup

This evening, we were delighted to be joined by UConn Alumni from Citigroup. To kick off our semester of guest speakers, these alumni helped familiarize us with the firm and the opportunities for UConn students. They delved into the company’s business model and organizational structure while providing invaluable insights into recruitment and expectations for prospective employees. Following the presentation, we held a brief Q&A and networking session. Questions allowed students to gain a better understanding of life as a Citi employee, as well as the next steps for summer analyst positions.

September 13th, 2023

Tonight, students filled School of Business Room 106 for this year’s introductory Finance Society meeting. President Tom Drumm and Vice President Carolyn Cumello kicked off the night by recapping Finance Society’s mission; to provide insights and knowledge about the vast finance industry through weekly meetings, internal and external events, and the mentorship program. Joined by the Executive Board, they discussed their initiatives and schedule for the semester. This year, the E-Board would like to emphasize member participation and is committed to giving members a fruitful and educational experience. Whether you’re a seasoned financier or beginning to explore the world of finance, the Finance Society strives to provide you valuable information, resources, and a supportive community to help you succeed. Meetings will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 in BUSN 106. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to UConnFS@Gmail.com with any questions or suggestions.
