Our final meeting of the semester was done virtually over Zoom. We were grateful to have Shap Smith, a Managing Director at Citi, join us. Shap discussed the major trends he’s seen so far in banking and other major industries such as oil, gas, airlines, retail, and more. He discussed what we might see in the future: bankruptcies, companies restructuring their balance sheets, and more.

Our third virtual meeting of the semester was done over Zoom. We were grateful to have Keith LaRose, a Principal and Executive Vice President at Bradley, Foster & Sargent join us. He shared with us how the firm is tackling the challenges that have arisen in the asset management industry as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The second virtual meeting of the semester was done over Zoom. We were grateful to welcome Tom Marshella, former Managing Director at Moody’s.  Tom talked about how companies, the economy, and ratings are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today we held our first virtual meeting via Zoom! A UConn School of Business alum, who is currently an Investment Banking Analyst at BNP Paribas in NYC, discussed the credit shock that’s risen as a result of the rapid spread of COVID-19. The pandemic has been having detrimental consequences across every asset class.
