Senior Matt Arons pitched American Express describing why the company was undervalued by the economy, the strengths and weaknesses, as well as catalysts that will promote growth for the firm. This was an an opportunity for junior students to learn how to evaluate and understand companies as well as hear useful insights.

Finance Society had the pleasure of hosting the FDIC on Wednesday October 10th. Members were introduced to the role of the FDIC within the banking system as well as the different roles within the firm. The FDIC plays a key role in insuring deposits in the US banking system as well as insuring the stability of the system.

Today Finance Society offered a current events presentation on current trends and news in the market as well as a senior panel. The current events presentation looked at how interest rate hikes were shaping the market, the effect of trade, and other notable events within the market. It also coordinated a senior panel, where underclassmen were able to learn about the different experiences of different seniors working in different areas of finance. Seniors spoke about their summer experiences, advice and lessons they had for younger students, and more.

Finance Society hosted a delegation from Travelers. The group offered insight in Travelers and the different programs and full time positions available to students. The group welcomed questions from the student organization and offered important and helpful insights and ideas.

Finance Society hosted Moody’s today with guest speaker Tom Marshella. Mr. Marshella offered insight into Moody’s, the markets, and his personal experiences and lessons. He offered valuable advice to Finance Society attendees, who learned a lot from Mr. Marshella.
