To end the semester, Finance Society hosted a movie screening of The Big Short. Members were able to enjoy the movie while also learning about the 2008 housing bubble and financial crisis throughout the timeline of the movie. We hope everyone has a great rest of their semester and a happy break.

Finance Society hosted their annual stock pitch competition this Wednesday. Three teams of University of Connecticut students presented on their companies of choice. All three teams were very knowledgeable and performed at a high level this night.

Senior Alana Phillips and Junior Gabi Horton presented a current events discussion on recent market trends and key market events. Notable meeting topics included Sears’ bankruptcy and Uber and Lyft IPOs. Following the presentation, the meeting was opened up to Q&A where students raised questions regarding different parts of the presentation and additional topics that were not covered by the presentation.
